Healthcare Freedom?

In 1997, The Federation of State Medical Boards issued guidelines to State Boards to prevent the practice of alternative and complementary medicine. The National Association of Attorneys General, the Federation of State Medical Boards, and the Federal Trade Commission held a conference in Dallas, Texas to promote this agenda.  The recommendations included opposing any legislation for healthcare freedom and prosecuting physicians that practice alternative and complementary medicine.

In the United States today, there are doctors serving time in prison for prescribing vitamins rather than prescription drugs. Now, the battle has moved to Arkansas. Our doctors and other healthcare providers need our help.

If we want to maintain our rights and freedom to choose our healthcare, it is imperative that legislation be passed in the 2007 Session that guarantees the people of Arkansas freedom of choice.

California’s, Minnesota's, & Rhode Island's recent success in passing a Health Freedom Act lends hope for success in Arkansas.  The battle lines have been drawn. In 2007, we can either claim our rights in healthcare with proposed legislation or wave those rights good-bye.
It is imperative that your elected officials know of your commitment to this issue. During the 2006 elections, know where your candidates stand on healthcare freedom.

Several states have already passed health freedom legislation and many others have citizen groups, just like us, working to secure those freedoms. It is a battle taking place, state-by-state and it is a battle whose time has come to Arkansas. Let’s be prepared.
